Meeting and Event Code of Conduct

 

The WLCA – Metro Milwaukee’s meeting and events are integral to the success of the Association.  The WLCA wants to promote a meeting and event environment where all participants feel welcome regardless of race, age, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, political views and/or any basis that constitutes wrongful discrimination under Wisconsin law.  In addition, WLCA – Metro Milwaukee wants meetings and events to be cordial and allow for the free expression of ideas and viewpoints, without the fear of personal attacks or harassment. 

 

WLCA – Metro Milwaukee does not tolerate harassment of participants in any form.  Harassment includes, but is not limited to the behavior described below when directed by one person to another person with the intent to intimidate, offend, embarrass and/or ridicule that person:

 

• Verbal, written or physical conduct regarding race, age, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, political views and/or any basis that constitutes wrongful discrimination under Wisconsin law.

• Verbal threats or inappropriate comments that inappropriately mention or focus upon race, age, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, political views and/or any basis that constitutes wrongful discrimination under Wisconsin law;

• Inappropriate physical contact;

• Advocating for or encouraging any of the above behavior.

 

Other prohibited conduct includes:

 

• Excessive use of foul or socially unacceptable language or gestures;

• Sustained disruption of meetings or events;

• Engaging in a physical altercation;

• Excessive consumption of alcohol resulting in the loss of control or composure.

 

WLCA – Metro Milwaukee expects all participants (attendees, speakers, sponsors, volunteers, etc.) to follow the Code of Conduct during all WLCA – Metro Milwaukee meetings events and activities, whether in person or online. Participants who are requested to stop any behavior that is inconsistent with this Code of Conduct are expected to comply immediately. Participants who violate this Code may be expelled from the event/activity without refund and/or may be banned from future WLCA – Metro Milwaukee events/activities, at the discretion of the WLCA – Metro Milwaukee Board of Directors.
